Big Ben

I've never been in an English speaking country, so I haven't visited any of his historical monuments or sites, but I decide to describe the Big Ben.
The Big Ben is the name that receives the Clock Tower of Westminster, home of the British Parliament. The tower is situated in the extreme nothwest of the building, and it is one of the most representatives monuments of London. Actually, the name Big Ben refers to the bell of the clock and it weighing 13.8 tons, which is responsible for giving the hours. As for the name, that refers to Benjamin Hall, the first charge of its construction. The story of Big Ben begin in 1834 with the fire of the old Palace of Westminster, so this had to be rebuilt by Charler Barry, who followed the Victorian Gothic style. The clock mechanism would be built in 1854, but it wasn't installed in the tower until 1858 and in 1859 the clock began to run.
Finally, as a curiosity, the minute hand measure 4 meters and each number has a height of 0.5 meters.
