Frederick Douglass

Frederick Douglass was the first black leader, he became the spokesman of the black race; their representative. The story of Douglass is how a black man rises from obscurity, oppression to freedom, this is the key for future Afro-Americans. His father was white and his mother was a black slave.
He wrote a book "Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass, an American slave" divided into three parts.
Douglass in his book made a journey from:
South to North, slavery to freedom, darkness to light, from illiteracy to literacy that means he became free and in this moment he could start to write and read.
He told the suffering and punishment to black women; the horror of slavery. He always wanted to write and finally became a teacher from other slaves.
